Players are allowed to play previous levels again, in order to hit better high scores. Mario is in this game an innocent infant.
Unlike the other games, in this one the player does not take full control of Mario, but of other creatures. The player controls Yoshi, whose target is to end each level with Baby Mario safe on his back.
